Sukhmani Sahib is a prayer that is recited by all the Sikh devotees as part of their daily worship. The word sukhmani is derived from the Sanskrit word sukhma, which means "good"; and mani is derived from the Sanskrit word mani, which means "yourself." The prayer is addressed to the Creator, to the Universal Spirit, to the Source of all Beings, and to the King of the Universe.
Sukhmani Sahib is a mixture of various hymns and religious chants. The first half of the prayer is a hymn to the Creator, and the second half is a hymn to the Universal Spirit, the Source of all Beings, and the King of the Universe.
Sikh devotees believe that the entire universe is filled with the divine spirit and that the universe is controlled by the will of the Creator.
